TEAM-BASED APPROACH

During my training in the UK in geriatric psychiatry, I learned early on the importance of a team-based approach to assist in the recovery of late-life mental illness. From 2010-2022 I led a fantastic team at the Geriatric Mental Health Program of the London Health Science Centre which continues to provide excellent care for patients in the London and Middlesex region.

As I have now transitioned to a busy community based practice, I continue to use a team-based approach specifically for the management of behavioral and psychological symptoms of severe dementia at the patient's residence: be it their own home, retirement home or a nursing home (long term care). All patients presenting with above symptoms are seen by myself in conjunction with the Behaviour Response Team of the London Health Sciences Centre.
